NOCO Gear evolved from founder Danny Mac piecing together his first trad rack by buying pre-owned gear. Mac was introduced to climbing after moving to Northern Colorado in 2002, and he quickly fell in love with the sport. As a full-time college student, he also realized the expense of purchasing the gear he needed. To cut down on costs, Mac bought used racks, kept the pieces he needed, and then resold the remaining quality pieces to local climbers. As his personal rack grew, so did the interest of climbers looking for gear at pre-owned prices, resulting Mac to move to online sales, and growing the business.
More than a decade later, Mac brought on partners, Jason Fagette (left) and Hans Bakker (right), to create NOCO Gear. The company inventory was expanded, while maintaining the company model: To provide quality equipment at discounted prices, while spending as much time possible on the rock putting our gear to good use.
For the folks at NOCO Gear, putting the gear to good use means ascending a slab of granite or jamming up a sandstone crack. Our team is comprised of passionate climbers with a wide range of climbing experience, including trad climbing, sport climbing, aid climbing, multi-pitch, big walls, ice climbing, alpine climbing and mountaineering. Some of our favorite places to climb are Yosemite, Indian Creek, Joshua Tree, Smith Rocks, Rocky Mountain National Park and the Tetons, just to name a few.
We are proud of the quality of gear NOCO has to offer. Every single piece of climbing gear we sell has been thoroughly inspected for quality and safety. We know quality gear, and if we would not climb on it, we would not sell it. The scope of equipment we provide ranges from this year latest models that are unused pieces, to pre-owned pieces in good condition. NOCO Gear has also become known for the vintage climbing equipment that we to provide as a result of our purchasing network.
